Saul “Flip” White is entering his 15th season at the Harlem Globetrotters with 12 years as a player and two years as a coach. His journey to the Globetrotters began with his grandparents taking him and his 3 siblings to see the legendary team when he was just four years-old.
Known during his playing days for his acrobatics and unbelievable athleticism. In fact, his agility led him to compete in three seasons of NBC’s popular show American Ninja Warrior and CBS’ Tough Mudder X. His genesis of coming to the Globetrotters as a player came from his experience not just in basketball but in football and track where his 47-inch vertical leap was the stuff of legend. Despite being only six feet tall, Flip’s hops and athleticism were so good that he averaged 11 rebounds a game – to go along with 18 points a game – during his career at Moraine Valley Community College (Ill.).
He counts his parents, Saul White Sr. and Pamela Williams as his role models to him, his two older brothers and one younger brother. In fact, it’s his dads love of basketball that was at the heart of the White family. Saul White Sr.’s journey as a prolific skilled player had him play with and compete with a few notable and celebrated ballers including Doc Rivers and Isiah Thomas.
When not on the court coaching, Flip can be found at his local gym where fitness is the centerpoint to his mental health. He enjoys weight training and works out often with players and family. He now has turned his attention to mentoring and crafting the styles of the next generation of Globetrotters, importing much of the learning and experiences that he has had playing in all 50 states and 78 countries throughout his career in the organization.
