The 10-Episode Digital Docu-Series Provides Unprecedented Access Taking Fans Behind-the-Scenes from Try Outs, Making the Team, to Life on the Road as a Harlem Globetrotter Rookie
(Atlanta, GA) — Do you think you know what it takes to be a Harlem Globetrotter? The world-famous, Harlem Globetrotters are back this spring with the much anticipated premiere of season two of My Rookie Season with a new star-studded class of new rookies. The digital docu-series examines a day in the life of a Harlem Globetrotter from a rookie's point-of-view. The 10-episode series premiering on YouTube, Thursday, May 28, pulls the curtain back from try outs to making the team and touring the world as they celebrate 100 years of greatness.
The series takes fans behind-the-scenes on key moments throughout The 100 Year Tour from each rookie’s perspective. With this tour, five rookies are introduced; Kaleb “Springs” Wallace, Tyrus “Rim Reaper” Crawford, Zanai “Biz-Z” Jones, Mike “Smoove” Saunders, and Ty’Ohn “Trouble” Trimble. From waking up at the hotel, to pregame practice, to game time; the viewer is part of this journey alongside the newly introduced superhuman athletes. “Harlem Globetrotter fans rarely get to see behind the curtain, and season two of My Rookie Season doesn’t disappoint - offering unprecedented access on a whole new level,” said Keith Dawkins, President, Harlem Globetrotters & Herschend Entertainment Studios. “As we mark The 100 Year Tour, this rookie class brings an exciting mix of talent - from elite ball handlers to explosive high-flyers. My Rookie Season follows past programming produced by Harlem Globetrotters including three-time Emmy nominated series, Harlem Globetrotters: Play It Forward, Harlem Globetrotters: Ganando con la Comunidad, and Harlem Globetrotters: Secrets of the City.
A new episode premieres every Thursday at 4:00 p.m. ET, with the season finale releasing on Thursday, July 30. All episodes are posted on the official Harlem Globetrotters YouTube channel. Episode 1: Tryouts
The room is filled with nerves, excitement and anticipation as hopefuls are put to the test in drills, tricks and interviews, all competing for a chance to join the Harlem Globetrotters’ historic 100-Year Tour.
Episode 2: It’s Official
Training Camp begins, and the energy is electric as our rookies experience the pressure, excitement and adrenaline of officially becoming Harlem Globetrotters — complete with receiving their iconic new nicknames.
Episode 3: MSG 100-Year Kickoff
The Harlem Globetrotters officially tip off their 100-Year Tour at the legendary Madison Square Garden. Our rookies share their fears, excitement and emotions as they step onto the court at the world’s most famous arena for one of the most historic games in Globetrotter history.
Episode 4: Beyond the Game
Rim Reaper takes us to Colorado Springs, Colorado for a behind-the-scenes look at life as a Globetrotter — even on a day off.
Episode 5: Rewind!
Midway through the 100-Year Tour, we take a timeout to spotlight last year’s rookie class and share a never-before-seen look at their journey through their first season as Harlem Globetrotters.
Episode 6: Practice Makes Perfect
The Harlem Globetrotters are unlike any basketball team in the world. The rookies dive into the “Magic Circle,” the work behind the wow, and the countless hours of practice it takes to make the impossible look effortless.
Episode 7: On the Road
What is life on tour really like? From favorite meals and bus rides to downtime and daily routines, the rookies give us an inside look at the realities of life on the road.
Episode 8: European Adventure
The rookies take their talents overseas as the tour goes international. From performing in front of brand-new crowds to exploring Europe on their well-earned days off, the adventure reaches a whole new level.
Episode 9: Mentors
Every rookie needs someone to guide them. The rookies open up about the veterans who took them under their wing, sharing the lessons, advice and support that helped shape their first season as Globetrotters.
Episode 10: Final Buzzer
As the tour comes to a close, the rookies reflect on the unforgettable experiences, lessons and memories from the most exciting four months of their lives.
