Smoove Kryvenko is the first Globetrotters player ever from the Ukraine, and one of the most talented dunkers in the world.
A former member of the international Dunk Elite team, Smoove won gold medals at the FIBA 3x3 World Cup dunk contests in 2016 and 2018. He is the third international player to join the Globetrotters roster in 2020, joining Dazzle Kidon of Poland and Lucky Chiang of China.
Smoove cites Lebron James as the basketball player who has most influenced him, not only on the court, but because he is so active in the community off the court as well.
That being said, Smoove says he only ever dreamed about playing for the Globetrotters. “It’s been my dream since I started playing. I never thought about playing in the NBA, only for the Globetrotters, because they are so much more than just playing basketball.”
Smoove says that if he weren’t playing basketball or playing for the Globetrotters, he’d probably be an author, “because I love books” (the most recent book he’s just completed reading is the classic “Robinson Crusoe”). He is also eager to try to learn “every language possible,” though currently he is fluent in Ukrainian and Russian and “a little bit of Polish.”
