Bio

“Never give up. Life will throw you curve balls all the time. Write down your goals, smaller ones and large ones. Knock them out and you will achieve whatever you desire.”

That’s the advice Globetrotters’ rookie Primetime Maberry would give to up and coming athletes. Marberry didn’t exactly follow the traditional path many athletes take to play pro sports, instead he carved out his own way into basketball stardom.

He attended Ottawa Hills High School in Grand Rapids, Mich., where he played two seasons of varsity basketball. Following his senior year, he opted out of going to college. The only scholarship offer he received meant he had to move out of Grand Rapids. He declined the opportunity.

Marberry bounced around from job-to-job and was in-and-out of junior college before deciding to make a return to basketball. This time he decided to try his luck in the dunk circuit. In 2011, after being on hiatus from basketball for months, he decided to participate in a local dunk competition where he wound up taking home a $1,000 prize and the rest is history.

Flash forward to 2016 and Primetime is featured on the popular television program “Dunk Kings” on TN where he leaped over a 7-foot-2 NBA Legend Shaquille O’Neal, taking home a $100,000 dollar prize this time and dazzling a national audience.

It didn’t take too long for the Globetrotters to take notice of his incredible dunking abilities.

“It’s a blessing,” he says about being one of the Globetrotters newest stars. “I’ve been to every show when they came to my city for the past 10-15 years. Now to be part of this organization is almost still like a dream to me.”

Maberry isn’t afraid to take risks, which has helped him get to where he is today. The wildest thing he’s done is bungee jumping over open water – Maberry doesn’t know how to swim.

When he’s not traveling, he enjoys spending time with his family and playing video games. He’s an avid gamer and says his game system goes wherever he goes.
