NAISMITH MEMORIAL BASKETBALL HALL OF FAME ANNOUNCES CLASS OF 2019 CANDIDATES

Eight Men with Ties to Harlem Globetrotters Among Nominees 

 

The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced the eligible candidates for the Class of 2019 on Friday.  Eight men with ties to the Harlem Globetrotters were among the 150-plus eligible names, in seven different categories, announced.

Former Harlem Globetrotter stars Curly Neal and Jumpin Johnny Kline, and Washington Generals founder Red Klotz were among the names in the Contributors Category. The Early African-American Pioneers Category include former Globetrotter standouts Wyatt “Sonny” Boswell, Chuck Cooper, Bill Garrett, Inman Jackson and Al “Runt” Pullins.

The finalists for the Class of 2019 will be announced during NBA All-Star Weekend in Charlotte in February and the entire Class of 2019 will be unveiled during the NCAA Final Four in Minneapolis.  Enshrinement festivities will take place in Springfield, Mass., September 5-7, 2019
