Behind the scenes at Globetrotters’ training camp

(ATLANTA, November 21, 2018) – The world famous Harlem Globetrotters will debut an all-new syndicated TV special this week that gives fans a rare look at the team’s training camp and how it prepares for its annual tour with the premier this week of Harlem Globetrotters: Inside Training Camp, produced by Echo Entertainment and is scheduled to air in over 80 markets across the country through April 2019.

The 30-minute special marks the first time in the franchise’s 93-year history that it has let cameras come behind the scenes of its annual training camp, which takes place just outside Atlanta.

“We get asked all the time about what it takes to be on the world’s most beloved sports team - this special gives fans unprecedented access into the process of becoming a Harlem Globetrotter star,” said Globetrotter President Howard Smith.

The special includes two hometown features—one in New Orleans with Globetrotters Showman Big Easy Lofton, and the other in Houston with Globetrotters Head Coach Sweet Lou Dunbar and his son and now rookie Globetrotter, Sweet Lou II.

Narrated by actor Leonard Jackson (In the Heat of the Night), the special also includes highlights of the team’s first-ever 4-point shooting contest, as well as its slam dunk contest, and includes a look at the team’s efforts on this year’s annual Guinness World Record Day, where they set five new world records to up their total to more than 20.

The Globetrotters have just tipped off their 2019 Fan Powered World Tour, and will play in more than 250 North American markets, as well as 30 countries worldwide, through May 2019. Tickets are now available at harlemglobetrotters.com.
