Globetrotters Learn New Moves From Emmy-Nominated Mark Ballas

ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” choreographer teaches the basketball magicians an exciting new dance to open their world tour

Two of the biggest names in entertainment are teaming up on the dance floor, as the iconic Harlem Globetrotters have been shown some new moves by world-renowned dancer and choreographer Mark Ballas of ABC’s  “Dancing with the Stars” fame.

The Emmy-nominated Ballas – part of ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” professional cast for the last 13 seasons – has taught the Globetrotters a fantastic special dance that will be performed as part of the Globetrotters’ widely popular family show on the team’s 2014 “Fans Rule” World Tour.

“The Globetrotters are not only superb athletes and basketball innovators, but some of the greatest entertainers on the planet,” said Globetrotters Showman Special K Daley.  “The huge growth in the popularity of dancing made us very excited about this collaboration, and people must come out and watch us strut our stuff with this new dance in arenas around the world.”

“I am inspired by the enduring passion the Globetrotters have shared for encouraging the world to get up and move,” said Ballas.  “Dancing is a timeless art, and we’ve created a fun routine that will be easy to learn to get the crowd up on their feet and participating along with the Globetrotters.  Learning a new dance is never easy, no matter how experienced someone is, but the Globetrotters nailed it, and each of their personalities show through in the final routine – we had a lot of fun.”

Tickets for the Globetrotters’ 2014 “Fans Rule” World Tour are on sale now at, as the Globetrotters will play 300 games in North America alone from December 26, 2013, through April 2014.
