While visiting Los Angeles, we took a break to answer your questions on Reddit's "Ask Me Anything" forum. Buckets, TNT, and Scooter had fun answering some unique questions. Here were some of the highlights...
Q: What was your first exposure to the Globetrotters?
A: "Before I was a Globetrotter, I was an assistant video coordinator and practice player for the Phoenix Suns. The Globetrotter home base was in Phoenix, and I was discovered during a pick-up game on the weekend. The Globetrotters' scouts invited me to camp and I've been a Globetrotter for 11 years." - Scooter
"My first exposure to the Globetrotters was when I was in college at Temple University. They were playing in our arena after one of our practices, and I and a few teammates stayed and watched a while. We felt like kids again. We sat there in amazement lol" - TNT
Q: How long does it take to master all the ridiculous shots you guys take?
A: "Hours and hours and hours and hours and hours and.... some more hours. While you're sleeping in your bed, when you're walking your dog, when you aren't thinkin' of us, we are practicing!" -Scooter
Q: Where is the most unique country or venue each of you has played?
A: "New Zealand was really cool (They did a traditional dance to welcome us to the land). Monaco was beautiful. And, I got to play at the White House! That was cool and unique!" - TNT
"When I did the military tour in 2006, we played on a navy ship on the Mediterranean with F16s flying over our heads!" - Scooter
"Outdoors on a Dubai tennis court. It was 120 degrees out!" - Buckets
Q: What are you pre and post-game meals?
A: "We finish games pretty late, so there's not that many options. We try to eat as healthy as possible- things like fruits, veggie burgers, and salads with protein in it." - TNT
"I try to do things like salmon, garlic mashed potatoes and some sort of green veggie." - Buckets
Q: Who was your favorite player growing up?
A: "Allen Iverson. 'We talking about practice... NOT THE GAME!' LOL" - TNT
"Michael Jordan, of course!" - Scooter
"Michael Jordan. Then, in high school, I liked Kevin Johnson, because I'm from Phoenix!" - Buckets
Q: Which world record are you guys looking to break next?
A: "Well, since I have the record for spinning the basketball on my nose (which was taken from me and I had to take back), maybe next time I'll try to spin it on my foot! I've been practicing." - Scooter
Q: What's something you've seen a teammate do on the court that still amazes you?
A: "One of our teammates, Hacksaw, does this double-jointed thing with his shoulder, arm and elbow while he has the ball balanced on the back of his neck! It's hard to explain, you HAVE to see it!" - Scooter
Q: Do you ever feel bad, always demolishing the other team?
A: "Well... we did beat up on the Washington Generals last year so badly they didn't want to come back... so... we're beating up on the World All-Stars this year, lol. But on a lighter note, no one really remembers the score of the game by the end. They do remember laughing and smiling and having a good time, and that's what we are all about!" -Scooter
