With the Harlem Globetrotters, Fitness is Fun!

At the center of a movement destined to take hold worldwide, the Harlem Globetrotters made history with the 2008 launch of a rewarding initiative called S.P.I.N.™ – Some Playtime Is Necessary – a program designed to make fitness fun for kids, while promoting and encouraging an active lifestyle.

By enlisting the help of thousands of kids and adults across the United States, the Globetrotters established a world record in 2008 with the simultaneous dribbling of basketballs, all in the name of fun and fitness. Some participants also posted their pictures on the Globetrotters’ official Web site in an enthusiastic show of support.

Globetrotter players recognize that an active lifestyle can mean anything from dribbling a basketball, to riding a bike or walking the dog. By teaming up with the Harlem Globetrotters, fitness can be fun and rewarding.

The Globetrotters support the mission of the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition (PCFSN) and have signed on to support the long-standing President’s Challenge program of the PCFSN.  The President’s Challenge is the physical activity, nutrition and fitness awards program of the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition.  The President’s Challenge recognizes people of all ages and abilities for their physical activity and fitness efforts through a variety of award programs.  Those programs include serving as the recognition piece for the new Presidential Youth Fitness Program (PYFP) and the Presidential Active Lifestyle Award (PALA+).  The PALA+ recognizes all ages for being physically active on a regular basis and maintaining good eating habits.  For more information about any of the President’s Challenge programs visit www.presidentschallenge.org.
