Lights Out Lee is one of the newest additions to the Harlem Globetrotters’ roster of world-class athletes and dribblers. He earned his nickname with the team for his spot-on shooting accuracy.
He joins the Globetrotters following a career with the Motor City Firebirds (2014-2015) – the American Basketball League’s (ABA) team in Detroit. With the Firebirds, he racked up 19.6 points and 9 assists per game to earn team MVP honors.
Prior to playing in Detroit, he attended Owens Community College and Dakota Wesleyan University. At Dakota Wesleyan, he averaged 12.2 ppg and shot 82.9 percent from the free-throw line his senior year. Lee graduated with a degree in sports management and a minor in business from Dakota Wesleyan.
He says being a Globetrotter means everything to him. “Being able to create memories for families all over the world and seeing smiles on kids’ faces is priceless.”
Lee embodies the Globetrotter’s ambassadorial spirit, often volunteering at his local recreation center where he helps with youth programs and community projects.
Following his playing career, he would like to continue to share his passion for basketball through mentoring kids. His advice to young athletes is to work hard because, “Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.”
Fans would be surprised to learn that he’s a big Harry Potter fan, enjoys drawing, Hawaiian-style pizza and he is allergic to fur.
