COVID-19 UPDATE: We are still on an extended timeout for the remaining dates of our 2020 live tour. For now, we will keep creating new ways to stay connected with you.
Hi-Rise Hinton joins the Harlem Globetrotters out of Winston Salem, N.C. The 6-foot-7-inch forward earned his nickname for his high-flying and powerful dunks.
Hinton played two seasons at the Virginia Military Institute prior to transferring to Appalachian State University (N.C.) where he appeared in all 33 games during his senior season. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Economics.
He attended East Forsyth High School in his hometown of Winston Salem, where he averaged 17 points, 10 rebounds per game his senior year. As a high school senior, Hinton also shot 59-percent from the floor and was named an all-conference player. In 2013, Hinton participated and won the Triad Classic Dunk Competition with his electrifying dunks.
About becoming a Globetrotters he says, “It means a lot to me that I will be able to impact lives and put smiles on the faces of millions of fans by playing the sport that I love. I’m truly honored and excited to be part of a team that is recognized for the joy they bring to others on and off the court.”
Hinton enjoys music and can play the drums, trombone, and a little piano. If he could pick up a new skill, Hi-Rise would love to love to learn to play the electric guitar.
