Jacob "Hops" Tucker's Story

Jacob "Hops" Tucker is proof that you can accomplish your goals with hard work, determination, and creativity. He never let people’s opinion that he was too short or not good enough deter him from accomplishing his dreams. It’s not surprising that former NFL superstar Kurt Warner was an inspiration. “He showed what hard work and perseverance can do,” says Hops. “He went from bagging groceries to being an NFL quarterback, because he wasn’t afraid to chase his dreams.”

Hops’ dream of playing professional basketball took him on a path to Illinois College, where he was an two-time all-conference selection. He also excelled in the classroom, earning all-academic honor each of his four years in college, while graduating Cum Laude in exercise science and sports management studies.

He scored over 1,000 career points and finished his college career in the top five in school history in three-pointers made and steals. His senior season, he led the Blueboys in rebounding…pretty impressive considering he is only 5-10. Having a 50-inch vertical jump doesn’t hurt (he can get his eyes horizontal with the rim), and that incredible leaping ability made Hops a first-class dunking machine.
