The Trotter League is Back

ATTENTION: This is an important message for all Harlem Globetrotter fans, friends, and family.  It’s time to dive into another competitive and fun season of our very own Trotter League Fantasy Football. Handles Franklin is our beloved fantasy commissioner once again, and each week, some of your favorite Globetrotters will be battling it out to see just who is the best fantasy football tactician.

We’ve long awaited this special moment, and there are many burning questions that have yet to be answered. Who will be this year’s champion? Which Globetrotter’s fantasy team will be inevitably doomed by countless injuries? Is it possible that Flight Time Lang THREE-PEATS? Judging by his team name, he sure seems to think so. We can only wait to see. The Globetrotters are excited to watch this year’s fantasy football season unfold.

Here is the complete list of the 2013 Trotter League teams, 10 of which are owned by Globetrotters stars:

Big Easy Lofton: Melph52

Moose Weekes: Gutcheckerz

Flight Time Lang: Three Peat Flight

Slick Willie Shaw: Ill Will’s Team

Special K Daley: Panama

Handles Franklin: Handles Is Cold Fam

Bones Millien: AJ Millien’s Team

Ant Atkinson: Country Boy

Spider Wilks: Darnell’s Team

A. Vinatieri-Ind (K) D. Bailey-Dal

FINAL SCORE: 177.52-121.06

SUMMARY:

Before this week’s games even began, Handles and Special K had plenty of fighting words to say to each other (see Trash Talk of the Week below). But as we all know, there can only be one. In this matchup, our quick-handed commissioner stole the spotlight and reigned supreme. Thanks to some fantastic performances by A.J. Green, Reggie Bush and Jason Witten, Handles was able to pull out a victory by an easy 56 points.

THREE PEAT FLIGHT vs. ILL WILL’S TEAM

P. Manning-Ind (QB) T. Brady-NE

C. Johnson-Det (WR) B. Marshall-Chi

P. Garcon-Was (WR) A. Johnson-Hou

T. Hilton-Ind (WR) M. Williams –TB

D. Sproles-NO (RB) R. Rice-Bal

R. Matthews-SD (RB) D. McFadden-Oak

J. Graham-NO (TE) V. Davis-SF

D. Akers-Det (K) J. Brown-NYG

Houston (D) Denver

FINAL SCORE: 144.38-165.82

SUMMARY:

Hey, Flight Time, ever hear of the old cliché, “Don’t count your chickens before they hatch?” How are all those baby chickens looking now after week 1? Hopefully, our reigning champion didn’t jinx himself for the year with his self-proclaimed team name, because he certainly didn’t start out the way he was hoping to Even with a dominating performance by Peyton Manning to begin the week, Slick Willie Shaw was able to overcome the initial deficit and beat out Flight Time in 7 out of 9 positions for a 21-point victory.

DARNELL’S TEAM vs. GUTCHECKERZ

A. Rodgers-GB (QB) D. Brees-NO

W. Welker-Den (WR) L. Fitzgerald-Ari

M. Wallace-Mia (WR) H. Nicks-NYG

G. Jennings-Min (WR) G. Tate-Sea

S. Jackson-Atl (RB) D. Martin-TB

J. Gresham-Cin (TE) T. Eifert-Cin

R. Gould-Chi (K) P. Dawson-SF

Tampa Bay (D) Green Bay

FINAL SCORE: 121.32-122.28

SUMMARY:

Easily the closest game of the week, as Moose and Spider competed in a match that was a genuine nail-biter. But when Sunday night’s game came to a close, the massive moose was able to stomp out the itsy-bitsy spider once and for all.  By a margin of only .96 points, Darnell’s Team was able to close out week 1 with a feel-good win.

MELPH52 vs. AJ MILLIEN’S TEAM

A. Luck-Ind (QB) C. Kaepernick-SF

R. White-Atl (WR) V. Cruz-NYG

T. Smith-Bal (WR) A. Brown

E. Decker-Den (WR) S. Smith-Car

J. Charles-KC (RB) L. McCoy-Phi

S. Ridley-NE (RB) C. Johnson-Ten

O. Daniels-Hou (TE) J. Finley-GB

J. Tucker-Bal (K) B. Walsh-Min

New England (D) Arizona

FINAL SCORE: 108.52-165.58

SUMMARY:

After week 1, the Globetrotter coach for Melph52 was ironically quoted, saying, “I gotta hand it to Bones Millien’s team. They played BIG, and it sure wasn’t EASY!” Tough luck for Big Easy and his squad; his team was overcome by a point difference of 57 thanks to astonishing performances by Colin Kaepernick, Victor Cruz, and LeSean McCoy.

JOHN’S TEAM vs. ONLYHERETOBEATHERB

M. Stafford-Det (QB) R. Wilson-Sea

D. Bryant-Dal (WR) R. Cobb-GB

V. Jackson-TB (WR) M. Colston-NO

S. Rice-Sea (WR) J. Jones-GB

T. Richardson-Cle (RB) C. Spiller-Buf

D. Murray-Dal (RB) M. Jones-Drew-Jax

B. Pettigrew-Det (TE) K. Rudolph-Min

S. Janikowski-Oak (K) M. Prater-Den

Chicago (D) Cincinnati

FINAL SCORE: 100.38-85.40

SUMMARY:

OnlyHereToBeatHERB won’t be beating anyone if he doesn’t get his point total up Jet and his squad soared past their opponent and laughed their way to victory against the only player in week 1 to fail at scoring over 100 points. One thing’s for sure, Jet sure is flying high into week 2.

TANNEHILLBILLIES vs. COUNTRY BOY

M. Ryan-Atl (QB) C. Newton-Car

J. Jones-Atl (WR) J. Nelson-GB

D. Thomas-Den (WR) S. Johnson-Buf

C. Shorts-Jax (WR) A. Boldin-SF

A. Peterson-Min (RB) M. Lynch-Sea

L. Miller-Mia (RB) D. Williams-Car

G. Olsen-Car (TE) F. Davis-Was

M. Bryant-Atl (K) S. Gostkowski-NE

Baltimore (D) Indianapolis

FINAL SCORE: 134.76-132.90

SUMMARY:

Another tight matchup, as the TANNEHILLbilies were able to squeak by Ant’s Country Boy squad.  We can imagine Ant sitting in front of the TV on Monday night, begging for Fred Davis to catch a 9-yard pass that would have put him over the top for the win.
