Ralston High School Freshman Boys Basketball Team Earns Recognition From Harlem Globetrotters As “Junior Phenoms” For Exemplary Team Spirit

(PHOENIX – April 13, 2015) – The Harlem Globetrotters have recognized the freshman boys basketball team of Ralston (Neb.) High School as Junior Phenoms for their spirit of team. The boys rallied this season around their teammate, Harley Cazinha, a 15-year-old with Asperger’s syndrome playing on his first organized basketball team.  Despite Harley’s condition, his teammates have never viewed him as less than a full-fledged member of the team and encourage him every step of the way. To view the original story of Harley and his team from KETV NewsWatch 7, click HERE. “These exceptional young men truly epitomize the spirit of the word ‘team,’” said Harlem Globetrotters’ star Buckets Blakes, who met the team today at the Ralston High School gym.  “As Harlem Globetrotters, we rely on each other and use teamwork to achieve our goals, just like this team.” During his visit with the team, Buckets presented Coach Mark Larson and the team with complimentary tickets to see the Globetrotters live on Saturday, April 18, at 7 p.m. at CenturyLink Center.  Tickets for that game are available at harlemglobetrotters.com, ticketmaster.com, the CenturyLink Center box office, or by phone at 800-745-3000.  Information on group and scout tickets can also be found at harlemglobetrotters.com. Known as the Ambassadors of Goodwill™, the Globetrotters look for stories of amazing kids who spread their own goodwill and demonstrate traits like helping others, assisting in the community, outstanding teamwork and being positive role models.  The Globetrotters Junior Phenom Award is the team’s way of saying, “Thank you,” and applauding those individuals who go above and beyond. To nominate a youngster or a group of youngsters for the Globetrotters’ Junior Phenom Award, and to view the team’s full touring schedule, visit harlemglobetrotters.com. Sponsored by World Vision, Greyhound Lines and Baden Sports, The Harlem Globetrotters® are celebrating their 89th consecutive year, continuing a world famous tradition of ball handling wizardry, basketball artistry, and one-of-a-kind family entertainment that continues to thrill fans of all ages.
