GLOBETROTTERS NAME LIVE EVENT MARKETING SVP

(PHOENIX, July 30, 2008) – The World Famous Harlem Globetrotters have hired Michael Kenney as the team’s new senior vice president, live event marketing.  A seasoned marketing expert with over a decade of experience in the sports marketing and live entertainment industry, Kenney will lead the Globetrotters’ domestic ticket sales/marketing department.

Kenney, who began his career in the media relations department of the Boston Celtics, spent the last five years as the director of marketing for Comcast Spectacor, Wachovia Center and Wachovia Spectrum in Philadelphia, where he was in charge of marketing for over 400 events annually.

“Michael joins the Globetrotters with an immense background in sports and entertainment marketing,” said Globetrotters’ CEO Kurt Schneider.  “I am confident that with Michael’s experience, combined with his tremendous enthusiasm, he will play an important role in helping us accomplish our goals.  With over 230 games in 200 U.S. markets this year, Michael will have a great opportunity to make a tremendous impact on our business.”

Sponsored by Campbell Soup Company, the Harlem Globetrotters are preparing for their 83rd consecutive season of touring the world.  The Globetrotters have played in 119 countries on six continents, entertaining over 128 million fans and crossing barriers between cultures, societies and people from all walks of life.  The Globetrotters are one of only six teams to be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
